1982 R100RT, Red Smoke. Rebuilt motor and final drive, upgraded brakes, Major Service (10K)
This 1982 BMW R100RT has been well cared for. We now have about 1000 break-in miles put on a complete top end rebuild (new chrome bore, new rings, valve job) Actual total miles on the bike are 91,000. We replaced the clutch and the rear main seal at the same time. We also inspected and resealed the final drive, and the drive splines on the final drive AND the wheel were replaced. We did a full Major Service (10K) and installed new wheel bearings. New Metzeler tires were mounted and balanced. The battery is new.
WE installed an aftermarket sidestand because the stock one on this model is difficult to use. The 3 stock brake discs were replaced with high performance EBC floating discs. It has a clock and volt meter on the dash, a pair of "Throttlemeister" bar end weights / throttle cruis control, a pair of BMW Touting Cases on chrome mounts, a pair of Koni rear shocks, cable lock, and tool kit. There are 2 sets of ignition / fairing glovebox keys; the fuel cap and seat lock do not lock
The original paint is still solid and glossy; the lower front part of the fairing is showing numerous very small marks from riding on gravel roads. It has a tall windshield. Exhaust is in good condition. There is a very small ding in the top right edge of the fuel tank; about fingerprint size (woman’s little finger).
This bike would make an excellent and stylish daily commuter or a weekend tourer. The 1000cc motor has plenty of power for high speed two up riding or for pushing it hard through the twisty two lane back roads. All in all, this is a very nice bike, and is ready to go for another 90,000 miles!
