This Rare 1983 BMW R65LS if fully serviced and ready to go. The R65LS was a BMW Factory specially designed “Café” style street / sport cycle model that has great sporty looks, excellent dual disc brakes, unique wheels (used only on this model), as well as the superior ride and handling found on all BMW models. It would make a GREAT weekend twisty road play bike, a 2 up Sport / Tour bike for exploring all the Senic back roads, or a classy daily commuter bike.
The R65 models have a lower seat height, and a slightly shorter wheelbase, making them perfect for a shorter person who may not be comfortable on one of the larger framed BMWs.
This R65LS has just had a 10K Major Service, and is ready to ride for the season. Additionally, we have replaced the steering neck bearings, rebuilt the forks, installed a new handlebar master cylinder, installed a new upgraded ignition coil, replaced the engine rear main seal, inspected the clutch, lubed the clutch splines, rebuilt the carburetors, installed new original Continental braided fuel lines, and recovered the seat with a reproduction seat cover. Everything else has been carefully inspected for condition, and rubber boots, switches, indicators, bulbs, emblems, etc. replaced when less than perfect.
This bike is in completely correct “As From Factory” original configuration; aside from the blue pinstripe on the seat tail and fuel tank, which we think have been added by the previous owner.
The bike is clean and has been well maintained. There are several minor cosmetic flaws which we would like to point out. Light staining in the clearcoat on both side front edges of the fuel tank. Several minor dings in the fuel tank. A large chip on the right side front of the air deflector; looks like something was dropped on it, damaging the surface of the fiberglass but not its integrity. The photos with a finger pointing are to show the minor dings in the fuel tank.
