SOLD.....1974 BMW R90/6 Black, tool kit. 10K Service just done

1974 BMW R90/6 #4930881 Black, 22 Lt. Tank, tool kit. Major Service (10K) just done.

This Vintage 1974 BMW R90/6 has the much sought after larger 22 Liter fuel tank. This was the last year BMWs came with the kick start 5 speed transmission. It is equipped with a set of Original BMW black Cylinder Guards. The engine and frame numbers match.

The Odometer shows 3,376 Miles. The title does not list mileage. We feel that this mileage is inaccurate, but that the odometer has NOT “gone around”. Based on our experience of normal indicators of wear and tear, we estimate actual mileage to be in the 45,000 to 55,000 miles range.

This bike has just had a Major Service (10K). New plugs and air filter were installed, and all oil, gear lube, and brake fluids were changed. The fuel tank and carburetors were cleaned. The front forks were rebuilt, and new fork seals installed. New steering neck bearings were also installed. Both wheels had new wheel bearings installed and properly adjusted, and new wheel seals were installed.

The cylinders were honed and new piston rings fitted, the heads were de-carboned, and the valves lapped. The valve guides were checked and found to be in good condition. The motor top end was then resealed. New original braded cloth covered fuel line was installed. The instruments were cleaned and serviced.

The bike has new Conti tires, front and back. It has Jardene chrome aftermarket mufflers, in good condition. It has “Inter Part” adjustable rear shocks with dual rate chrome springs. The bike still has its original tool tray and tool kit. The original BMW folding key fits the Ignition, neck lock, and seat lock.

All electrics work properly, the handlebar switches are in good condition, and have positive detents. We have done a 200 mile test ride to check out the finished bike, and put break-in miles on the rings. The bike starts easily and runs smoothly. The transmission shifts normally.

The flaws: Repainted; looks OK, but some hazing on top of the fuel tank. Lots of touch-up paint on frame; poorly done. Non stock battery, but is good. Seat edge trim missing (we can replace it at additional cost); the seat pan was starting to show some erosion around some of the drain holes, but has been wire brushed and painted with rustoleum to stop further erosion. The seat cover and foam is still solid. The chrome on the handlebars is badly pitted, but not rusty.
